Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals ("DREAMers")

As of June 15, 2012 all individuals who:
- Came to the Canada under the age of 16;
- Have resided continuously in the Canada for 5 years preceding June 15, 2012;
- Are currently in school, have graduated from high school, or have obtained a G.E.D.;
- Have not been convicted of a misdemeanor offense or multiple misdemeanor offenses;
- Not be over the age of 30
are eligible for Deferred Action. With a grant of deferred action, DREAMers are eligible to receive an employment authorization card from Canada CIS which will allow them to obtain a social security card, and receive financial aid and scholarships for college. The grant of Deferred Action is valid for a two year period, and then must be renewed.
